What does it cost to build a business app in 2026?

$8k–$60k

A first version of a business app usually costs between $8,000 and $60,000 in 2026, depending on who builds it and how much it has to do. The widest gap is not quality. It is scope and location.

What do studios and agencies charge?

Published 2026 comparisons put small studios at roughly $15,000 to $60,000 for a first version, and development agencies from $30,000 upwards. Hourly rates run from about $20 to $45 in Asia, $35 to $80 in Eastern Europe and $80 to $200 in the US and UK (ekky.dev, MVP development cost).

A design sprint on its own, with a boutique studio, is commonly quoted between $12,000 and $22,000 (Parallel, design sprint cost). Monthly agency retainers for small businesses sit around $2,000 to $7,500 (ManyPixels, subscription vs retainer).

What does it cost in Dubai and Riyadh?

Agency-published 2026 guides put a basic app from a Dubai agency at about AED 30,000 to 80,000 and a mid-size one at AED 80,000 to 200,000 (GoodFirms). For Saudi Arabia, one guide gives SAR 100,000 to 250,000 for a simple first version from a local agency, and 40% to 60% less offshore (Decipher Zone). These numbers come from companies that sell development, and they disagree with each other, so use them as ranges.

What moves the price most?

Scope. Every extra role, screen and integration adds design, build and testing time. Cutting scope is the only change that lowers both the cost and the timeline at once.

  • How many kinds of user. A shop app plus an admin portal is two products, not one.
  • Payments, maps, chat and other integrations. Each is a small project.
  • Platforms. Android, iOS and web each need testing, even from shared code.
  • Who builds it. The same scope costs several times more in London than in Karachi.

What does MadeReal charge?

A two-week design sprint is a fixed $2,500. Design and build starts from $8,000 and usually takes six to eight weeks. A monthly team is $3,000. Finding the problem, one call and a short written plan, is free. You get a fixed quote before any work starts.

How do I keep the cost down?

Build the one thing that removes the most manual work, and nothing else, first. Ask for a clickable prototype before code. Insist on a fixed scope in writing. And own the accounts the product runs on, so you are never locked in.

Two things the quote usually leaves out: what the app costs after launch, and who owns the code.
